India - VSNL
VSNL is India's
largest Datacenter and ISP in terms of Bandwidth and subscriber base. All
of India's International Bandwidth comes through VSNL totalling to over
350 MBps with another 450 MBps in the pipeline. All other ISPs and
Datacenters currently peer with VSNL for their bandwidth. This makes VSNL
the most suitable datacenter for hosting content in India since it allows
the content to be closest to all users in India. Even access from other
countries to servers in India is quite fast as compared to other ISPs in
India. All in all VSNL offers the fastest hosting option for content in
India.
Most
Indian companies until now were hosting their content with datacenters in
the US. Now with a local hosting option the same website can be hosted in
India to achieve almost 6 times faster speeds.

Rackspace
We operate at
a world-class data center built with redundant systems, diverse fiber
entrances and isolated power distribution to give our customers the utmost
in security and reliability. It's protected against the unlikely occurrence
of complete power failure by 80-minute backup batteries (against an industry
standard of 20 minutes). We also have a 750-kilowatt diesel generator - more
than enough capacity to handle any potential power emergency.
To guard against line failure or intrusion, the data center is staffed 24
hours a day and monitored by a comprehensive security system incorporating
biometric hand-scanning for strict access control. No public access is
permitted under any circumstances. The data center includes 24-hour HVAC
with redundant chillers to maintain an optimal computer server environment.
We provide diverse data cabling paths to the server racks, and all servers
receive conditioned power and 24-hour individual monitoring. All servers in
our data center are placed on Cisco Enterprise switches running HSRP (hot
failover) to ensure that information is transmitted to and from your server
in the fastest way possible. Additionally, connecting your web server to a
switch is significantly more secure than connecting it to a hub because
packets are actively routed only across authorized channels. It's far more
cost-effective and secure to house your web servers with us than to try and
build a telco-class facility of your own.
Connectivity
Rackspace.com (our datacenter) has been built and engineered for high
availability and scalability, with multiple connections to various
providers. (OC3=150 MBps, DS3=45MBps). We have the following
high speed connections to ensure fastest delivery of packets
OC3 connection to QWEST
DS3 Connection to Intermedia
DS3 connection to SBC
OC3 connection to UUNET
DS3 connection to TWTC
Redundancy
Rackspace.com utilizes connections to multiple backbones to ensure that data
reaches the end-user in the fastest, most efficient manner possible. We also
have numerous peering agreements with many local ISPs to allow fast delivery
of packets when possible. Multiple connections to the internet brings in the
highest level of redundancy eliminating issues caused by a single point of
failure.
BGP4
Routing
Rackspace.com runs the Border Gate Protocol (BGP4) for best case routing.
The entirely switched, Cisco powered network employs Cisco GSR 12000 class
routers running HSRP (N+1 hot failover) to ensure that data can be routed
even in the event of a router failure. The BGP4 protocol is a standard that
allows for the routing of packets of information sent out from the Rackspace
Network. Each packet of information is evaluated and sent over the best
route possible. Because of our redundant network architecture, packets may
be sent via alternative routes even if they are being delivered to the same
end user. Should one of our providers fail, packets leaving our network are
automatically redirected through another route via a different provider.
Guaranteed
packet Delivery
Peering agreements rarely include Service Level Agreements (SLAs) so no one
is accountable for lost packets at congested exchange points. Because
Rackspace.com actually has SLAs with all our providers, we are able to
guarantee that all packets will leave our network at full speed.
Bandwidth
Utilization
Our Network currently has plenty of excess capacity, even during peak hours.
This allows for us to accommodate even the largest spikes in traffic that
are often associated with the most popular websites. We are always adding
network connectivity and new routes in an effort to make sure content is
delivered to your users as efficiently as possible. A low bandwidth
utilization also allows for maximum uptime, even if one of our providers has
an outage
Network
Quality
Rackspace is officially a "Cisco Powered Network" meaning they use
only Cisco Systems Network gear. Redundant network components are used to
ensure uptime and eliminate any single point of failure. The network is
multi-homed through multiple redundant high-speed connections providing
fast, reliable connectivity.
Network
Uptime
We guarantee 99.9% network uptime in a given month (40 minutes network
downtime per month), excluding scheduled maintenance. Network uptime
includes functioning of all network infrastructure including routers,
switches and cabling.
